When you set a goal or intention, following the path there is like following GPS. Sometimes you think you know better, but sometimes a detour comes along you didn't expect. The thing is, life's GPS doesn't care where you've been. It cares where you are, and where you're going.
I've been expanding my salon and let me tell you, it's been a lot. I don't always follow the path my life GPS is leading me, and sometimes I wish I had because I can't alway see the obstacles that are coming. Tune in for an inspiring discussion on goal setting, handling setbacks, and persistently moving forward.
I offer 1-to-1 training to help you find the systems, train the people, make it work and provide the best customer service in your salon. Send me a DM on Instagram to learn more! https://www.instagram.com/patricestar

Hello 2025. I hope all of you are doing well. I feel like things are, like, moving crazy fast. It has been such, like, a crazy time. Like, the end of 2024, like, flew by. And then here we are in 2025, and I'm like, goddammit, time is flying. It's amazing. And I don't know if you guys, ever think about, like, where you came from and where you're going, right? And I had this, this epiphany of thinking about life like a GPS. When you think about how Waze, Google Maps, they don't care about where you've been, they care about where you're going. And it made me think about how life moves and how things go for us in our life. Because it really just doesn't matter where you've been. We really have to focus on where we're going. And I know I tell you guys that a lot. But the main thing is, is just realizing like, if we even functioned in life and thought about how Just, just try to live our life almost like a GPS, where am I now and where am I going? And I think it's crazy that when I think about ways and I'm taking it because I even use Waze now y'all for real, just to get through life, like it's telling me traffic, everything ahead of time because I can't quite see the future. But I know where I'm going, right? I put in the destination of, hey, I want to get here. I want to get from point A to point B. The GPS tells you how long it's going to take you to get there. It gives you an estimate of how long it's going to take you to get there, which direction you should go. But what's interesting in life when you think about the GPS. It will redirect you when things are crazy. Traffic happens, an accident happens. The GPS will say take this street, but do you find it funny? Cause maybe it's only just me that I find that I don't take that damn street all the time. I'd be like, they don't know what they doing. I'm gonna go here. Cause that's crazy. It's going to be traffic, but the GPS is saying like, Hey girl, Hey sir, it's a problem up ahead. You should exit. And we got to think about that in life when red flags show up in relationships and sometimes you might need to pivot, you need to exit or like, Hey, where I'm living may not be the best space for me. And we need to adjust the GPS is already saying like, Hey girl, Hey, don't go that way. Sometimes I listen, sometimes I don't. And we do that in life. And when you get off course, it's saying, Hey, make a U turn. Hey, turn left here. And sometimes we just don't always listen. But when I think about just how life has been going for me and the goals that I have been setting and where I am going, it made me just think about the GPS. Cause it doesn't matter 10 years ago where I was, it matters where I am now. And I wanted to just share that with you guys as I have made some major changes in my life of just expanding the salon. It's like hiring the people, no longer this solopreneur. And it came from the thoughts of, Hey, what is it that I actually want to do? I have been just focusing on the future. Where is it that I really want to be and where I'm going and focusing on how am I going to get there? What is going to be this route? And along this journey and this process, I had some tests of my goddamn patience and gangster, because things don't always go as planned and it recalculates, it redirects me and I've been listening. Because I know where I want to get to. And clearly the signs that are given, the way things are directed, it is guiding me to where I want to be, but I just needed to set my goal and my destination. And that's how, cause this is how my 2025 has started y'all. I've been out here in my head, but I've been goal focused in my head of what are the goals that I am setting for my future? Where is it that I want to go and moving my feet towards those goals. The GPS doesn't judge where you came from. It doesn't care. And we got to remember that, that your old life is just where you were. And you have a chance to redirect and get to your next destination from where you are planted. What is your life looking like going forward? And you know, everyone sets their goals and their intentions. Like I tell you guys all the time, my new year starts back at birthday. Every birthday is a new goal setting journey for me. And since my birthday, I've had an expansion of the salon, I've hired people. It is crazy at what happens in my new year, starting in November. I have definitely had the life of redirection. Hey, girl. That might not be where you need to be, but I hear where you're trying to go and let me help you get there. And life rewards you for that. When you set your prayers and set your intentions and you believe in God, He's listening. He or she is listening. And it's all possible. But I just want you guys to know that your past does not define you and I feel like I've told you that before But if you are setting your goals right now, think about where you are and where you're going Do not torture yourself about your past, past relationships, your past jobs, what you didn't do Girl, sir, ma'am, right now, what the hell are you going to do going forward? What you about to do? Make it make sense And it's okay if you get redirected. Direction is needed sometimes because accidents happen, traffic happens, something is going to slow you up. You might need to take another street and it is okay because you're still getting to your destination. And I just had to share that with y'all because that's how I've been really thinking about life lately. What does that look like? Where am I going? And since I have set those goals and focused on what my future was looking like, the GPS of life has been guiding my ass. And I just hope you guys get something from this. I hope that you know that you can get to where you want to be. Stop looking in the past, focus on your future. Focus on moving forward in life. Even if forward is just tomorrow, just get to that. Not 10 years down the line. If you don't have it, do one day at a time, live your life for today and listen to life. When it's trying to redirect your ass, please. And thank you. And I'm gonna leave you guys with this. No matter how many wrong turns you make in life, the GPS is ready to get you back on track. It's waiting for you to just set your next destination in. Think about where you're going, and it damn sure don't matter where you came from. And of course, as always, thank you guys for spending your time with me. Until next time.
